Goodwin voted to the preseason All-Big 12 team

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Junior Nick Goodwin was unanimously voted by league baseball coaches to the 2023 preseason All-Big 12 team, following Wednesday’s conference announcement. A complete preseason squad roster is available below. Goodwin earned his second All-Big 12 honorable mention last season, making 57 starts at shortstop for the Wildcats. He produced a .255 / .354 / .525 slash line with 18 doubles, two triples and 11 home runs, marking his second consecutive season of double-digit home runs. The Overland, Kan. product compiled 48 runs batted in and 30 walks while leading the league with seven sacrifice flies. Goodwin is one of 19 student-athletes returning from last season’s roster who went 29-29 and reached the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship for the second straight year. Other returning starters include Cole Johnson and Kaelen Culpepper. K-State opens the 2023 season Feb. 17-20 with a four-game series against Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Wildcats home opener is scheduled for Friday, March 3 against Army.
