WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A man facing multiple charges, including threats to kill his ex-girlfriend, criminal mischief and prison break, is also accused of assaulting a corrections officer after being incarcerated.
Charles Zachary Price, 27, of Wichita Falls, is facing 5 charges relating to incidents that began on Chase Drive on Saturday afternoon, January 28, 2023:
- Criminal mischief greater than or equal to $2,500 but less than $30,000
- Resist arrest, search or transport
- Terrorist threat of family or family
- Evading arrest or detention with a vehicle
- Assault on a public official for being unable to breathe
Price remains jailed on bonds for the five counts which total $29,000. He was also wanted for four traffic violations from 2021 to 2022 at the time of his arrest.
According to Sgt. Charlie Eipper with Wichita Falls Police Department, officers responded to a criminal call on the 2600 block of Chase Street at approximately 2:47 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023.
Police said Price was angered when his ex-girlfriend refused to give him her new address and started damaging a fence. They said Price then opened the door on a Jeep so hard that she drove past where the hinges would normally stop the door, causing damage.
According to authorities, Price then grabbed a brick and began hitting the victim’s mother’s Chevrolet Equinox, which also caused damage. Victim said Price drove off in a white 2005 Nissan Centra.
Police said they later received another phone call saying Price had returned to the residence on Chase Street, where the victim said Price had returned and told the victim he had a gun and was going to kill her.
The estimated damage Price caused was about $3,500, according to police.
After police located the suspect’s vehicle on Taft Boulevard, they say he fled up Kell Boulevard, then made a left onto Harrison Street.
According to the affidavit, Price then crashed into a fence at the intersection of Harrison Street and 11th Street and took off on foot. Police chased and charged Price as he tried to climb over the fence.
Then, after he was jailed, Wichita County Sheriff’s Office deputies said they were attempting to get him to change his clothes when he refused to cooperate and was pepper sprayed for compliance.
Deputies said Price then charged a corrections officer and put him in a headlock and began punching and choking him.
Price has a previous arrest in 2018 when call center officials say he assaulted two people when told he would be fired. Those allegations were later dismissed.
