WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL)—A local mom and dad who have served this community for over 25 years is asking for community help to keep the restaurant doors open.
Just like many other businesses in the area, the owners of Gyros and Kebobs are still trying to catch up from the pandemic and really could use more hands on the deck.
Owners Abdul and Nellie Razavizadeh say after going strong for more than 25 years, they’re more understaffed than they’ve ever been.
“During the COVID, we lost our employees and it was tough, it was tough for us because we can’t find any help,” Razavizadeh said.
Nellie said that besides the two of them, they only have one other employee, which has forced them to cut their hours, which they have never had to do before, turn down customers.
“They are still supporting us and know that usually our lunch is our rush hour, we get good community support at lunch but between two and five it slows down and then picks up after 5 but that’s just the way it is we do we don’t have any help, it’s long hours for us,” Razavizadeh said.
Open positions are cooks and line servers, something Nellie said no experience is required.
“We will work with them, we don’t expect them to come in and start learning everything you know, we help them, I’m always here, you know I never leave my employees alone, I always support them, I always help them and so does he, from both sides, whether they work on this side or in the kitchen,” Razavizadeh said.
Even though they are reducing their hours, Abdul said he has the community to thank for more than two decades of success.
“We just want to thank the supporters we have had over the past 25 years. All of our customers are like family to us, they know us by name and we know what they eat if they call and I see what they want,” Razavizadeh said.
It’s a relationship that Nellie and Abdul hope will continue for many more years to come.
There are several open positions at Gyros and Kebobs located at 3104 Kemp Boulevard. Nellie said she would prefer walk-ins during business hours which has been changed from 11am to 5pm.
