When he got a call about a big Michigan lottery win, he thought it was fake. He wasn’t.
“I’ve been playing the monthly jackpot game a little bit,” the 49-year-old Clinton County man told the Michigan lottery in a Monday, Feb. 13, news release. “I knew there was a second chance associated with the game, but I wasn’t sure what the second chance prize was.”
The monthly jackpot progressive game is an instant online lottery game, officials said. Based on how much players have wagered, they are entered into the game’s monthly second chance random draw.
“One day I received an email and a call from the lottery informing me that I had won the second chance jackpot, and I didn’t think it was real,” the man, who chose not to be named, told city officials. lottery.
He won $125,514 from the January 11 random drawing, the release said.
“It still looks surreal and it hasn’t sunk in yet,” she said. “I haven’t told my family yet that I won, so I’m going to surprise them by showing them the check. This could not have happened at a better time for our family!”
With her winnings, she plans to pay her bills and go on vacation, according to the release.
Clinton County is approximately 100 miles northwest of Detroit.
