The Tonganoxie High girls wrestling qualified four into a regional 4-1A class in Rossville earlier this month. Qualifiers, from left, are Autumn Wilson, Holly Colvert, Grace Stean and Mackenzie Colgrove.
The Tonganoxie High women’s wrestling team continues to compete in the Class 4-1A state championships at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.
Here is a rundown of THS matches so far:

Freshman Autumn Wilson won her first game by forfeit against Coffeyville junior Emma Hall (30-5) and then lost to Wichita County freshman Jentri Porter (20-3), 6-2, in the quarterfinals . Wilson (29-12) will now fight in the consolation round against Burden-Central freshman Aubrey Miller (21-15).

Sophomore Mackenzie Colgrove (26-16) continues in the consolation bracket after a first-period opening round loss to Pratt junior Keimanda Thompson (32-5). Thompson pinned Colgrove in 47 seconds. Colgrove (27-16) defeated Hays-Thomas More Prep sophomore Claudine Stein (12-10) by second period crash (2:28). She will now face Hoisington senior Tally Wikum (27-7) in the consolation bracket.

Sophomore Grace Stean (35-11) is guaranteed a medal. She pinned sophomore Ellis Riley Rodriguez (13-11) for a fall in the first period. Stean got the pin 1:04 into the match. She then pinned Fort Scott junior’s Brylie Schaub junior (31-7) with a fall in the first period of the quarterfinals (1:08). In the semifinals, Stean fought Oakley sophomore Atavia Cain (32-3) for nearly three full periods, but Cain pinned Stean with 12 seconds left in regulation. Stean can now go as high as third but she will finish in the top 6 depending on how the consolation round plays out.

Senior Holly Colvert (33-2) will also finish wrestling in the consolation bracket. Colvert made quick work of Stockton’s sophomore Rivver Long (13-18) with a pinfall 36 seconds into the match in the opening round. She then defeated Girard junior Kara Pope (25-5) in the quarterfinals by fall. You got the pin 1:22 into the match. In the semifinals, Wellington junior Aubrey Hunt (37-6) pulled off the upset and pinned Colvert in the second period (3:44). Like Stean, Colvert can now go as high as third, but she will finish in the top 6 depending on how the consolation round plays out.
