One of Adams City’s wrestlers won his first round match on Feb. 16 at the state meet at the Ball Arena.
Phoebe Gutierrez (100lbs) returned Grand Junction Central’s Marissa Martinez-Quezada by pinfall in 1:00. Gutierrez takes on Brighton’s Kiahna Spellman in the next round. Spellman pinned Olathe’s Sadie Corn in 1:06 of the first round.
Angelica Quintana lost to Regis Jesuit’s Alexis Segura at 125 pounds. Leyla Jaquez (130lbs) lost to GJC’s Mollie Dare. Quintana faces Savannah Brehm of Cahtfield in the consolation round.
Tomorrow morning the quarterfinals and the consolation round
