Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce played in the NFL for 12 seasons. His younger brother, Travis, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been in the league for a decade. They both made multiple All-Pro teams and won one Super Bowl, making them one of the most accomplished brother duos in league history.

But if Philadelphia and Kansas City both win on Sunday, they’ll have a chance to do something no set of brothers have ever done: play against each other in the Super Bowl.

One of the Kelce brothers has played in a conference championship in each of the past five seasons. Jason last played in the NFC championship game with the Eagles in the 2017 season when his team won Super Bowl LII. Travis played in the last four AFC Championship games for Kansas City and earned a ring pick in the 2019 season.

This is the first year they’ve both played in this round of the playoffs, though Travis’ status for Kansas City’s game against Cincinnati is suddenly in doubt: He’s questionable with back spasms.

Last season, the brothers’ teams played same day in the wild card round and their mother, Donna, attended the 1:05 p.m. Eagles game in Tampa, Florida before traveling to Kansas City, Mo. , for Travis’ prime time game. (The NFL chronicled her journey into his Twitter account.)

But the conference championship games will be played back-to-back, making another trip like this impossible. Both of Kelce’s parents will be in Philly on Sunday for the NFC Championship, they told a TV station in Cleveland, near where Jason and Travis grew up.

Previously, brothers Jim and John Harbaugh practiced against each other in Super Bowl XLVII. Twins Devin and Jason McCourty played on the same team, the New England Patriots, in Super Bowl LIII.
