Catherine Sue Schneider Nelson obituary

The Christian Burial Mass for Catherine Sue Schneider Nelson, 67, Lawrence, will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. A burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will say goodbye to friends before the funeral from 9:30 to 11:00. She passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Olathe Hospice House.

Catherine was born June 20, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of John C. “Jack” and Beverly Ann (Johnson) O’Renick.

She graduated from Van Horn High School. Catherine went on to receive her BSBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and her MBA from Rockhurst University.

She was a member of many organizations across the Corpus Christi Catholic Church, including Daughters of Isabella, Pastoral Council, and Bereavement Ministry, and was the family pledging coordinator.

Catherine worked at Colgate – Palmolive Company and Hill’s Pet Nutrition until her retirement.

Catherine was married to Peter Schneider on May 21, 1977, until his death in 2014. She then married Jerald Nelson on February 10, 2018.

Survivors include her husband, Jerald Nelson, two sons, Ryan Schneider, Mission, KS; Daniel “Danny” (Margaret) Schneider, Omaha, NE; brother, Mark O’Renick (Debbie), Sugar Creek, MO; and three sisters, Deborah (Robert) Ray, Sugar Creek, MO; Dana O’Renick, Independence, MO, Julie (Todd) Matt, Blue Springs, MO, and a nephew, Barrett Schneider.

Catherine was preceded in death by her first husband, father and stepson, Derek Nelson.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Corpus Christi Catholic School or the Family Promise of Lawrence and may be sent to Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
