Overland Park Fire Department investigators are working to determine what sparked a garage fire Saturday afternoon at a home near 67th Street and Lamar Avenue.

Overland Park, Consolidated Fire District No. 2, and Shawnee Firefighters responded at the 6300 block of West 66th Terrace shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Arriving firefighters reported smoke coming from the one-story house, a few blocks south of Shawnee Mission Parkway.

Anyone inside was able to evacuate safely.

The fire was extinguished in about 45 minutes.

Jason Rhodes, media director for the Overland Park Fire Department, told the Post the fire is believed to have started in the garage and spread to the attic.

The exact cause is still under investigation.

Police closed off Lamar Avenue from 66th Street to 67th Street as firefighters worked to put out the flames.

The house sustained smoke and water damage throughout. A damage estimate has not been released.

No injuries were reported.
