Cowboys 3 WR Targets in Free Agency: Would Chiefs Mecole Hardman Help Dak Prescott? -Harrison Reno, FanNation
The Cowboys definitely need to move to wide receiver and this free agent is definitely an interesting name to watch.
The former University of Georgia product fell short of expectations in Kansas City after the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill in the offseason. But the reason Hardman never really produced the numbers is the injury.
In his previous three seasons as boss, Hardman demonstrated that he possesses an elite trait, speed, something the Cowboys lack. Hardman’s signature would give them another weapon that can take off the top of the defense with its legs or even contribute to the slot.

A long list of former NFL players and sports personalities have sent their condolences.
“Praying for you now bro,” former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson replied.
“It made you love the game of soccer,” one fan replied. “You made me love the game of football as well as hundreds of thousands if not millions of others. The man had a vision that passed through you and saw it come true. What more could a mask ask for in life on his journey. You made him proud.
Cowboys 2023 Free Agent Profile: Safety Donovan Wilson – Matt Holleran, Blogging the Boys
The Dallas front office has players of their own who will need to re-sign this offseason and Donovan Wilson should be high on the list.
Wilson was Dan Quinn’s secret weapon on defense, and his ability to play in the box and deliver big hits ended up being a critical component of Dallas’ defense in 2022. The former sixth-round pick geared up for a Nice open market payday this spring.
Free agency perspective: In a perfect world the Cowboys would bring Wilson back on a multi-year deal and bring their three-headed monster back to safety next season. Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy.
Dallas is currently around $7 million over cap for the 2023 season. While they will certainly make some moves (restructuring/cuts) to stay well under the cap, they may not have enough room to justify reinstating their third safety in Wilson.
Focus on professional football projects Wilson to earn a two-year, $11.5 million free agency deal.
Though he played a big part in Dallas’ defense last season, the Cowboys still have starting safeties Malik Hooker and Jayron Kearse under contract for the 2023 season.
On the flip side, both Hooker and Kearse are set to become free agents after next season, so Dallas could see this as an opportunity to lock up Wilson long-term and pair him with whatever security they’re looking to bring back after next year.
Final verdict: Dan Quinn would probably love to have Donovan Wilson back in the fold next season. As good as it would be for Quinn and the defense, the Cowboys have too many holes to fill to justify returning him for $6-7 million a year.
3 free agent tight ends Cowboys can sign if Dalton Schultz leaves – Randy Gurzi, The Landry Hat
Dalton Schultz was shot at the franchise title last season. If he hasn’t returned to Dallas for a long-term deal, here are a few more names to watch
3. Roberto Tonyan
An undrafted free agent from Indiana State in 2017, Robert Tonyan originally began his career with the Detroit Lions. He was unable to make their roster as a rookie and then joined one of their rivals, the Green Bay Packers.
He spent that season on the practice squad and played sparingly in 2018 and 2019. Then in 2020, Tonyan broke out with 52 receptions off just 59 targets for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns.
A torn ACL ended his follow-up campaign early, but he returned to full health this year and had 53 receptions for 470 yards with two touchdowns.
Now a free agent, Tonyan may not get a major deal as his numbers dropped last year. He may also be looking for a new home as the Packers may move from Aaron Rodgers. If so, Dallas could try to bring Tonyan on a one-year deal while he works with Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot, which could end up being the long-term answers once he gets a little more experience.
