Crosby LeRoy Nail passed away early Monday morning January 23, 2023, after nearly fifty years as a quadriplegic, following a tragic automobile accident in November 1973. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Irene Nail, and his sister Cherylene Lovett. Crosby always believed that life was like a good joke, with numerous Hijinx family mishaps along the way. Crosby began his journey with the birth of Ralph and Irene Shirley Nail of Perry, KS at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka on March 30, 1953. Crosby attended the Perry public schools and moved his family to Liberty Center, Ohio, where he finished high school. Although Crosby did not attend college, he was employed as a factory worker in Ohio. After the death of his father Ralph Nail, Crosby was moved to Topeka and until his death resided at the Gardens at Aldersgate for the last twenty years of his life.
Crosby is survived by his sister Elmerene McArthur of Manhattan, Kansas, his brother Dennis Nail of Lancaster, PA, his brother-in-law Christopher Lovett, and his niece Elizabeth, both of Topeka. He is also survived by two nephews, Quentin and Colton McArthur of Kansas City; cousins Shirley Morrow of Topeka and Michael Morrow of Wichita, Dana Stanwix of Grantville, KS, Gena Leslie of Lecompton, KS and Tina Sterling of Nashville, TN.
