Dee Jo White

Dee (Dellita) Jo White was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend who passed away on February 15, 2023.

Dee was born on March 28, 1960 in Watseka, Illinois to Hallie and Helen White. She grew up in Colby, Kansas and attended Colby High School. She furthered her education by attending Colby Community College and the University of Kansas.

Dee loved her career as a social worker. Her passion was working with teenagers suffering from addiction and substance abuse. She had tremendous creativity and a magical way of connecting with people to open up about their problems. She began volunteering at a university school crisis hotline. After graduating with her master’s degree in social work, she worked in both hospital and outpatient settings, working with all populations, but her favorite was working with teenagers. She has helped a huge amount of people.

She had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller, bringing everyday situations to life with humor. She loved “happy gifts”, giving gifts to her friends for no reason. In her younger years, she had this practice of doing one new thing a month, whether it was trying out a new restaurant, playing racquetball, volunteering as a theater usher, or skydiving (this activity left her alive for weeks).

Animals were another passion of his. He worked in a veterinary clinic in high school where he developed skills for dealing with all animals. Her beloved pets King, Winston, Jake and Harley walked past her. Her beloved cat Stormy was with her to the end.

She was a beloved aunt to her nephew Jacob and nieces Haley and Allie. She had to learn how to change diapers with her last granddaughter which she didn’t like but she coped all the same. They all had a special place in her heart and they all loved their Aunt Dee.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Hallie, and brother David. Leaves Dana White, sister, Lawrence, Kansas; Glenda White, sister-in-law, Fort Worth, Texas; Jacob White, nephew, Springtown, Texas; Haley Alegria, nephew, Fort Worth, Texas; Allie White, nephew, Lorenzo, Kansas.
