Gerald J. ‘Jerry’ Von Feldt

 

Gerald J. “Jerry” Von Feldt, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Hays Medical Center Hays, Kansas.

He was born on August 3, 1939 on the family farm south of Victoria, Kansas to John J. and Irene (Herl) Von Feldt. He married Harriett (VonLintel) on October 17, 1959 in Victoria, Kansas.

He was a full-time farmer from 1959 until his retirement in 2006. In his early years Jerry worked at Rome Furniture Store, Schmidtberger Construction, both in Victoria, and was a substitute postman. He was a member of the Basilica of San Fedele and the Knights of Columbus of San Fedele. He was a former member of the St Fidelis church committee, Victoria City Council and the Victoria Volunteer Fire Department.

He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and activities. Besides his wife, his family was the love of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Harriett, of the house; his children, Gerald Von Feldt Jr. and wife, Anita, Frisco, TX; Beverly Scheck and husband, Tim, Prosper, TX; Sherry Sanders and husband, Ivan, Hays, KS; Dale Von Feldt and wife, Judy, Olathe, KS; his brothers, Jim VonFeldt and wife Connie, Victoria, KS; John Von Feldt Jr. and wife, Lita, Victoria, KS; his sisters, Darlene Weigel, Hays, KS; Diane Ruder and husband, Jerry, Hays, KS; her grandchildren, Joseph Sanders; Jacob Sanders (Jordyn); Jay Sander (Sofia); Jarrett Sanders (Megan); Sarah Keckonen (Andrew); Kelsei Graham (Jason); Tyler Scheck (Natalie); Tara Lester (Brody); Kiel Von Feldt (Abi); Hunter Von Feldt (Dallas); Nicholas von Feldt; Brianna Freeman (Dakota); Bailey Von Feldt; her 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren on the way.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and her twin great-granddaughters, Tamika and Camille Sanders.

The Christian Burial Mass will be at 10:00am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Basilica of Saint Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with Father James Moster OFMCap. arbitrator.

Interment will be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A Knights of Columbus vigil and rosary will be held on Friday at 6.30pm at the Basilica of Saint Fidelis.

The visit will be from 17:30 to 20:00 on Friday and from 9:00 to 10:00 on Saturday, at the Basilica of San Fedele.

The family suggests memorials made out to: Basilica of San Fedele by the morgue.
