Jim Sweat, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center, KS.
Jim was born October 18, 1952 in Smith Center, KS, the son of Eugene Francis and JL (Stuckman) Sweat. On August 26, 1978, Jim married Barbara Shellito at the Smith Center, KS, from this union they were blessed with two children, Laura and Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Sweat.
Jim is survived by his wife Barbara Sweat of the Smith Center; a daughter Laura (Rhett) Kingsbury of the Smith Center; a son Lee (Michelle) Sweat of Cedar; two brothers, Vince (Judi) Sweat of Austin, TX, Don (Ronda) Sweat of Syracuse, NE; two sisters, Jean Sweat of the Smith Center, June Ankenbrundt of Olathe; four grandchildren, Sierra, Kinser, Camber and Briggs Kingsbury, all from the Smith Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2023, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Lance McDowell officiating. The visit will be held from 8:00 until the time of the service, Friday 24 February. Interment will take place in Claudell Cemetery, Claudell, KS.
Memorials can be turned in to the Smith County 4-H Club and can be sent to the funeral home.
