The body of Kansas City Police Department K9 Champ was carried in Friday morning. Several police department and sheriff’s offices in the metro area joined the Kansas City Police Department in escorting the body. Champ and his partner, Kansas City Police Department officer James Muhlbauer, were both killed in the line of duty Wednesday night. A speeding vehicle crashed into Muhlbauer’s police car. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said the body was escorted from the North Kansas City Animal Control Center to Rolling Acres Pet Memorial Center.
