Mainline Printing plans a retail park on the former mall site

The former White Lakes Mall location may have been vacant, but is now under new ownership.

Mainline Development Group LLC will purchase the land at 3600 SW Topeka Blvd. from KDL Inc. The deal was finalized Wednesday.

John Parker Jr., chief operating officer of Mainline Printing, said Mainline’s goal has been to acquire the property. He said the deterioration of the former White Lakes Mall was a “very difficult process.”

“That building was attached to our manufacturing facility,” Parker said. “So, we were hoping to take control of it and we’re finally able to have it.”

Mainline Printing sued KDL in March 2021, alleging that it had neglected the former White Lakes Mall property and failed to keep it in “attractive and good condition”.

What are the plans for the vacant lot where the White Lakes Mall used to be?

Parker said the plan is to revitalize the area into a business park.

“It may have inventory components, light production,” he said. “Some sort of development like that is going to be really good for the City of Topeka and Shawnee County.”

Demolition of the former White Lakes Mall began in early 2022 and was carried out by former property owner KDL Inc., which in turn is owned by Topeka real estate developer Kent Lindemuth. KDL contracted with McPherson Wrecking Inc. for the project.

Brian Lensing, the listing agent for KDL, said the sale was a good decision and that “the owner is happy and the buyer is happy.”

Mainline Printing has received up to $250,000 in incentives to expand into the former Gordman’s building at 3245 SW Topeka Blvd. Parker told The Capital-Journal the company will be in the Gordman’s building “some time this year.” year, with new equipment”.

“This business park is just another piece of that investment,” Parker said.

He said Mainline Printing is in good shape in the space between its current location and the Gordman’s location.

The former White Lakes Mall lot is 21.07 acres and was valued at $743,620.
