Maxine “Max” Sherman 1956 – 2023

Maxine “Max” Sherman, 66, passed away on January 29, 2023 at the KU Med Center in Kansas City, Kan. Maxine was born on April 26, 1956 at Gove County Hospital in Quinter, Kan. by Titus and Matilda (Herzog) Kuntz. Maxine graduated from Wheatland High School in Grainfield and continued her education at Barton County College in Great Bend, Kan. Maxine has spent most of her adult life living in Great Bend before recently moving to Americus, Kan.

Maxine enjoyed being around her close friends and family and always seemed to have a way to make them smile or laugh. Her main passion in her life was her family. Maxine and Don were blessed with two children who meant more to her than anyone could have imagined. Raising children and being so close to both of them throughout her life has brought her happiness. Two precious grandchildren of her daughter Audrey have made her dreams come true. Maxine’s life was complete by being around and helping with her grandchildren. She now she’s sitting next to her son, Andrew, in heaven.

Maxine is survived by her husband of 44 years Don of Americus; a daughter Audrey Sherman Crumbliss and husband Conner Crumbliss, grandchildren Charlie and Lilly of Emporia; four sisters Caroline Vonfeldt, Nancy Jane Kuntz OP, Shirley and husband Don Pundsack, Roma Lea and husband George Michel; and brother-in-law Larry Boor. Also many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in her death by her parents; sister Doreen Boor; and her beloved son Andrew.

A private family ceremony will take place after the cremation. In lieu of flowers, he sends memorial contributions in Maxine’s memory to Project Playscape.
