Netsmart and Jefferson Center Announce Successful Strategic Partnership to Advance Remote Monitoring and Engagement in Behavioral Health Services

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Netsmart and Jefferson Center, a non-profit, community-focused substance use and mental health care provider, today announced a successful launch strategic partnership to enable integrated remote patient monitoring and engagement for behavioral health services to drive positive outcomes for the children, adults and families they serve.

Jefferson Center is an early adopter of the next generation of myHealthPointe, a mobile consumer engagement solution that connects people to their treatment and their care providers. The organization is proactively adopting technology strategies with the goal of both improving workforce challenges related to supplier shortage and satisfaction, and enabling better outcomes through engagement and connection with consumers between scheduled appointments.

Today there is a proven innovation in remote patient monitoring technology to support chronic physical health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension where monitoring devices such as blood pressure cuffs or glucometers are placed in a person’s home which collects readings for remote monitoring vendors. However, behavioral health providers lack this type of technology to serve people with digital tools to monitor and measure their mental well-being related to their treatment plan as they go about their daily lives. Jefferson Center has a vision for a human-centered design solution to address this challenge head-on.

Jefferson Center is leveraging Netsmart’s consumer engagement platform, myHealthPointe, to engage with people, facilitate proactive interactions, automate and prioritize awareness, and monitor data. The myHealthPointe solution recently earned the ONC 2015 Cures Update certification, enabling Jefferson Center to leverage advanced interoperability capabilities. The strategic relationship between Netsmart and Jefferson Center has enabled the two organizations to collectively innovate to help design and model the solution, promote collaborative care, and ensure positive outcomes.

“We are thrilled to take our partnership with Netsmart to the next level as our teams work closely together to advance the technological innovation that puts the people we serve at the forefront of their care to achieve optimal well-being,” said the Jefferson Center Chief Innovation Officer and VP of Information Systems Brandon Ward. “Our organizations are aligned when it comes to focusing on improving access to high-quality mental health care, and they trust their technical expertise when it comes to leveraging an integrated solution to drive and improve outcomes. The solution is highly intuitive and usable, improving engagement for both provider and consumer, enhancing communication like never before, and making these people invest in their care treatment.

Through this groundbreaking relationship, Jefferson Center piloted its program focused on physician workflows and medication adherence, with assessments contributing to a longitudinal view of an individual’s health and well-being. Jefferson Center is currently using assessments for medication check-ins, the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), and weekly check-ins. As the first behavioral health partner to launch the device-free remote patient monitoring program, Netsmart and Jefferson Center will continue to strive to focus on the clinical and operational expertise that will drive design and new technology capabilities, including family support, text communication, wearable devices and notifications.

“We are grateful to partners like Jefferson Center; where the principles of mental health, innovation and collaboration come together to make a difference in the communities we serve,” said Tom Herzog, COO of Netsmart. “A real impact on an individual’s progress and outcomes can be achieved when actions are taken to address mental health care by applying modern technology that supports communication and information data. We look forward to adopting this strategy with Jefferson Center facilities as we continue to innovate together for the greater good.”
