Something new

Rieger & Co.: To celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ win, proud Chiefs partner J. Rieger & Co. bottled a World Championship Commemorative Premium Wheat Vodka. An eye-catching Chiefs logo label adorns each bottle, making this limited-edition release a must-have for any Chiefs fan. Bottles are available at Kansas and Missouri retailers and the J. Rieger & Co Distillery.

Poiana beach: Buzzard Beach in Westport has reopened after a fire last spring forced a temporary closure. Buzzard Beach is a dive bar known for its relaxed atmosphere.

Kate Smith’s Evening: New in downtown Overland Park is a sister bakery to Butterfield’s Bakery in Lenexa Public Market. Kate Smith Soiree specializes in French macarons, and the lovely floral wall inside is the perfect backdrop for an Instagram-worthy photo.

Geo’s Gourmet Bakery: Olathe has a new Brazilian bakery! Geo’s is at 127th & Mur Len, open Monday through Saturday, offering sandwiches, cakes, trifles and more.

February 24th

Directors’ Circle: The Conductor Club, a revolving themed bar inside Union Station, has announced its next theme is “Emerald City.” However, instead of tapping your heels together to get there, you need to snag the coveted reservations that go live at 10 this Friday via OpenTable. Reservations usually sell out within minutes due to very limited capacity and the Conductor Club’s reputation for curating an immersive experience.

Johnnie’s Jazz Bar and Grille: The Boozy Broomstick Pop-Up Bar is back at Johnnie’s at the Power and Light District. The upper floor transforms from February 24th to March 18th into a magical space where you will come across drink specials, photo shoots and more. Cast your spells to get drinks like Dark Magic or Serpent’s Kiss, plus enjoy an hourly popcorn cart.

Big Mood Natural Wines: Drink forever. Every Friday night, Big Mood in Crossroads donates 10% of sales to the Kansas City Tenants Union from 6-11pm Drop by and get a bottle or stay in and enjoy wine by the glass.

February 25th

Serves of beer: From 11am to 10pm or until sold out, Servaes in Shawnee hosts a self-guided beer and Girl Scout cookie pairing. They brewed four limited beers with cookies, like Dreams in Color, a Shortbreadz Berliner weisse.

Lounge area: It’s Drake’s night at the Parlor. The Crossroads food hall knows how to throw a party, and this time DJs Nick Davis and JONISTHENEWBLK will be playing Drake tunes. Enjoy a photo booth, drink specials and more with a $10 advance ticket.

recordBar: Dad’s Pop-Up Kitchen will be at the Record Bar at Crossroads from 7pm until close or until they sell out. Menu options include Smashburgers, Veggie Bahn Mi, Bloody Mary Fries, and more for $11 or less. Kansas City’s Summer Breeze will be playing the Beatles’ Let It Be album that night.

February 26th

Baba’s pantry: From 10am to 3pm, Baba’s Pantry will stop at Foxtrot Studio in Rosedale. A special menu features Olive Mazza, Palestinian Turkish coffee, baklava and more for just $6 or less.

Strange Days Beer: Strange Days in River Market is hosting a chili cook off to benefit Camp Encourage. A judge’s ticket for $25 includes a draft pour, 10 chili cup redemption tickets, and a ballot to vote for the best chili from 1-5pm

Sandwich Week: It’s finally here! For one of our biggest food weeks, 15 area restaurants have a featured sandwich, wrap or melt available half price until February 26th! Our staff have already visited Banksia Bakehouse, Toni’s Italian and Falafel Express, and we’re just getting started. Dig!
