Robert J. ‘Bob’ Kolks – Marshall Democrat-News

Robert J. “Bob” Kolks, age 79, of Slater, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.

The Christian Burial Mass will be on Friday 17 February 2023 at 11.00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glasgow, presided over by the Rev. Joshua Duncan. Burial with full military honors will be in Washington Cemetery in Glasgow. The visit will be on Friday from 10 to 11, with the prayer of the Rosary at 9:45 in the church. Suggested memorials are American Legion Post #78 or VFW Post #4367 edited by Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.

Born December 13, 1943 in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Francis “Frank” Kolks and Dixie Webb Kolks. On October 12, 1969, in Slater, he married Josephine Suarez, and she survives the house.

Also surviving is a son, Ron Sanders of Lenexa, Kan.; a granddaughter, Addisyn Sanders; and a sister, Shirley Campbell of Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank W. Kolks; and two sisters.

Mr. Kolks was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Glasgow and was a 1961 graduate of Glasgow High School. He was a Vietnam-era US Army veteran. He retired after 35 years of service as a work force superintendent in the United States Corps of Engineers. After his retirement he worked 12 years with MFA in Glasgow.
