PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – Ole Miss failed to get a timely hit, stranding 11 baserunners in a 1-2 loss to Kansas Saturday night at Nancy Almaraz Field.

Aynslie Furbush held the Jayhawks to a pair of runs, coming on a two-run home run in the top of the second inning. She was stellar the rest of the night, holding Kansas to just five hits and blocking eight runners.

Offensively, Ole Miss dropped the bases loaded in the first and sixth innings but failed to capitalize on opportunities. The Rebels spiced things up in the bottom of the seventh inning after Savana Sikes totaled his third hit of the night. She took second on a wild pitch and moved to third after an infield single by Furbush. With the plate go-ahead, Sikes scored on another wild pitch, trailing the Rebels within one; however, they were unable to scratch another run.

Ole Miss returned to action February 25-26 at the Cowgirl Classic hosted by McNeese State.
