The burglary at the KCK turns into a murder investigation for the police

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred during an attempted burglary. During that conversation, police say the homeowner said another resident fired a weapon, hitting one of the burglary suspects. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered 32-year-old Deven Monaghan suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries two days later. Monaghan was a resident of KCK. This incident is under investigation by the KCKPD Major Case Unit. During that conversation, police say the homeowner said another resident fired a weapon, hitting one of the burglary suspects.
