Kansas City Police Officer James Muhlbauer is remembered for being a “good cop” and a hard worker. Kansas City Police Fraternal Order president Brad Lemon had known Muhlbauher since he began working at the Kansas City Police Department two decades ago. “One of the good cops out there,” he said. “A hard worker.” Muhlbauer leaves behind a wife and 10-year-old son, Lemon told KMBC. Court documents released Friday show Jerron Lightfoot’s vehicle that crashed into Muhlbauer’s cruiser reached over 89 miles per hour before crashing into it.

He was speeding into Benton before crashing into the police vehicle.

“It’s one of the things that we don’t talk about enough is just the random stuff that happens to us when we’re out there,” Lemon said.
