Who will the Jayhawks play in the Big 12 Conference

The day Jayhawk fans have been waiting for has finally arrived.

The Big 12 released the full schedule of conference football on Tuesday. The Jayhawks now know who they will face in 2023, the year newcomers BYU, Cincinnati, Houston and UCF join the Big 12 conference.

Last season, Kansas (6-7, 3-6 Big 12) went to the Liberty Bowl, its first bowl game since 2008. Ultimately, KU lost 55-53 in triple overtime to Arkansas in the Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

The Jayhawks started the season 5-0 but lost six of their last seven regular season games to tie for seventh place in the conference with Oklahoma and West Virginia. KU lost 47-27 in its regular season finale to in-state rival and eventual conference champion K-State.

K-State emerged as the Big 12 champion after defeating TCU in the title game, while the Horned Frogs were out for the College Football Playoff. They defeated Michigan 51-45 in the semifinal game before falling to Georgia 65-7 in the national title game.

As far as Big 12 newcomers go, all four teams finished above .500 last season. Three teams hail from the American Athletic Conference: UCF, Houston and Cincinnati. BYU was non-conference and was independent.

It is the second time in the conference’s 26-year existence that new members have been added, and the first since West Virginia and TCU merged.

According to reports, Oklahoma and Texas are likely to leave the conference and join the SEC after the 2023-24 sports season, a year ahead of schedule. It’s possible that this led to delays in the scheduling process as the league came up with a schedule that worked for everyone.

Now let’s take a look at the Jayhawks Big 12 schedule for 2023…
