Winter storm warnings

The Wichita National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning effective from 3:00 pm Wednesday to 9:00 am Thursday for Saline County.

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches. Winds with gusts up to 40 mph are expected. Wind chills will be around 5 below zero Thursday morning.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blown snow may significantly reduce visibility. Dangerous conditions could affect your morning or evening commute.

If you must travel, keep a flashlight, extra food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

In addition, the National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Winter Storm Warning effective from noon Wednesday to 9 am Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Ellworth County

Lincoln County

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches. Winds with gusts up to 40 mph are expected. Wind chills will be around 5 below zero Thursday morning.

The Topeka National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning effective from 4:00 pm Wednesday through noon Thursday for the following counties in our area.

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Republic County

Heavy snow and strong winds are expected, with total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches. Winds gusty up to 35 mph will cause blizzard conditions and drifting snow.

The journey should become very difficult. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Snowdrifts can make roads impassable. These hazardous conditions are also expected to impact the Thursday morning commute.

Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches and locally higher amounts possible throughout north-central Kansas. Winds with gusts up to 40 mph are expected.

Snow is expected to begin across the area during the early afternoon hours, with the heaviest accumulations expected between 6:00 pm Wednesday evening and 6:00 am Thursday. Dangerous journeys are expected.

If you must travel, keep a flashlight, extra food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
