5 Ways to Celebrate Your Anniversary

Marriage can be a beautiful and rewarding partnership, but it can also be a lot of hard work. Every year married is an accomplishment, so why not celebrate accordingly? If you’re looking for some fresh and exciting ideas, here are 5 ways you can celebrate your next anniversary.

A Cruise

If you’re looking for a getaway, a cruise could be a great option. On a luxurious and relaxing Hawaii cruise, you can see several islands and enjoy all they have to offer during the same vacation. You can pick and choose between the shore excursions offered at various ports and still enjoy the ship activities in between. Cruising have a little bit of everything, so even if you and your partner have different interests, you can both enjoy your time. No need to choose between a spa day and a comedy club when you’ve got both on the same ship.

Take a Class

Whether you’re trying to involve your spouse in a hobby you already love or you’ve been dying to try something new, a class is a great way to enjoy an activity together. Dancing, cooking, and crafting are just a few couples classes available. Since it’s a guided classroom-like setting, you’ll get to enjoy a smooth transition into a new activity. If you’re already familiar with, say, painting, chances are you can choose a more intermediate or advanced class. Several of these classes allow alcohol as well, and some even include a cocktail or a meal in the class price. One ticket price for a full evening and minimal planning is a pretty sweet deal.

Road Trip

A road trip is one of the most customizable ways you can celebrate an anniversary. Whether you fire up the car or rent an RV, you can road trip for a weekend or a few weeks. While you may have some stops in mind, one of the most fun parts of a road trip is discovering the landmarks and activities you never knew existed. See the sights, try new foods, and check off more states from that “States I’ve Been to” list. These adventures don’t have to be preplanned or even very long. Sometimes exploring a town a few hours from home makes for the perfect getaway. Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to try out those adorable Bed and Breakfasts.

Camping

If technology is getting you down, camping is a great excuse to disconnect from all the notifications and blue lights of modern life. Campgrounds have lots of amenities (hello bathrooms) while still being in nature, but you can also pick an area further off the grid. A weekend relaxing in nature can be a great bonding experience, just make sure you go prepared. Always let someone know where you’re going, and make sure you have a way of calling for help if you need it. Check the weather forecast before you head out, since wet socks and a leaky tent will ruin your trip in record time.

Explore Your City

If a more traditional vacation just isn’t in the cards, take a day exploring your town or city. Chances are there are plenty of hidden gems you’ve yet to discover. You may find your new favorite picnic spot or brewery. There could be a botanical garden you’ve never visited before. Check out the local history, or participate in a wine tasting at a local vineyard. If you’re able, heading to your first date spot can be a romantic end to the day. If you don’t have a lot of cash to spend, you can visit lots of museums and parks for free. Depending on the season, the city may sponsor some activities or festivals without entry fees.

Every anniversary is an important milestone, but they don’t all have to be celebrated in the same way. Whether you pick a cruise in Hawaii or a cruise around the block, your relationship is the center of it all.
