Barbara Tapcott

March 12, 1927 – February 4, 2023

Leawood, Kansas – Barbara Tapscott died on February 4, 2023.

She was born on March 12, 1927 in Solomon, Kansas to Jerry and Barbara Corcoran. She had two daughters, Patty Stenerud (Mission Hills, Kansas), Jenness Moore (Overland Park, Kansas) and a grandson Mark Moore (Overland Park). She was predeceased by her husband Robert Tapscott, her brother Tom Corcoran (Las Vegas) and her sister Katherine Brizendine (Las Vegas). She is survived by her brother Jerry Mike Corcoran (Las Vegas).

Barbara was a high school cheerleader for the Solomon Gorillas football and basketball teams. After a short career as a secretary she decided to serve our country and became a “Rosie the Riveter” during World War II. At the end of the war she moved to Kansas City. She worked as a secretary for Raytown South High School before becoming a travel agent for Capt’n Kidd Travel in Brookside.

Barbara was cultured. She has always enjoyed good conversation on a wide variety of topics. She also enjoyed playing bridge and solving crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed.
