Companies step up to fulfill the marching band’s dream of coming to Mardi Gras

SHROVE TUESDAY. THIS IS THE KANSAS CITY FALCONS MARCHING TO CUSTOMERS AT HARVEY’S IHOP. IT’S THEIR WAY OF SAYING THANK YOU TO THE COMPANY AND THE COMMUNITY FOR MAKING THIS TRIP POSSIBLE. SEE, IT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENED ON CHRISTMAS DAY. $30,000 WORTH EQUIPMENT SUFFERED WATER DAMAGE AFTER A PIPE BURST DURING A WINTER STORM. PRACTICALLY, THE ENTIRE CEILING FELL ON ALL THE DRONES WHICH WERE FLOATING. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN DAMAGED. TROPHIES, JUMPS. MELTING THEIR DREAMS OF GETTING TO NEW ORLEANS. THAT’S WHEN THE COMMUNITY GROWN. A GOFUNDME ACCOUNT HAS BEEN CREATED. AN IHOP IN KANSAS CITY AND NEW ORLEANS HAS DONATED 20% OF THE PROCESSES. I LOVE THAT WE CAN HELP IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE. SO COME ENJOY. I FEEL GOOD, I FEEL LOVE, I FEEL WELCOME. NOW, WITH THEIR REFURBISHED EQUIPMENT, THE BOYS TRAVEL TO NEW ORLEANS, GETTING READY TO IMPRESS THE CROWD IN THE CITY. WE LOVE NEW ORLEANS AND WE LOVE THE SUPPORT THEY GIVE US. AND WE LOVE TO BRING THE ENERGY AND JUST TO SEE COME HERE EVERY YEAR. IT IS A JOURNEY THAT OUR TEAM LOOKS FORWARD TO.

The Kansas City Marching Falcons, a non-profit drill team, performed for patrons of IHOP on Friday night. It’s their way of thanking the company and the community for making this trip possible. It almost didn’t happen. On Christmas Day, their equipment suffered water damage after a pipe burst during a winter storm, shattering their dreams of coming to New Orleans. It was then that the community stepped forward. A go fund me account was created and IHOP of Kansas City and New Orleans donated 20% of proceeds so students could purchase new tools. With their equipment restored, the band and drill team traveled to New Orleans and will march to Tucks on Saturday and Okeaonos on Sunday. “We love New Orleans and we love the support they’ve given us, we love the energy,” Dantwone Hanks said. “I love that we can help in any way we can, so come enjoy and feel comfortable, feel loved, feel welcomed,” said Claritha Munson, general manager of IHOP in Harvey.
