WASHINGTON – This week, the US Senate Appropriations Committee announced that US Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) will serve as a ranking member of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) .
“This subcommittee will be instrumental in addressing the key issues impacting our nation in the coming years, from supporting our law enforcement agencies to space exploration, to ensuring we are able to compete with China in global trade.” “, Senator Moran said. “As a ranking member, I will work to support our nation’s efforts to sustain our supply chain, resource our law enforcement agencies to reduce crime, and ensure we are able to continue to explore deeper into the space”.
Senator Moran’s Priorities for the 118th Congress:
- Semiconductor manufacturing: Supervising the implementation of the CHIPS and science law to ensure a stable and secure U.S. supply of semiconductors that will benefit our country’s economic and national security.
- Space Exploration: Provide support to NASA’s Artemis program and prioritize STEM education that will ensure a generation ready to advance our nation’s space goals.
- Law Enforcement: Continue to lead efforts to improve law enforcement in America, through innovative, bipartisan programs that equip law enforcement agencies with the tools and training they need to do their job and do it well.
- Fight Fentanyl Deaths: Ensure federal law enforcement, including the Drug Enforcement Administration and federal prosecutors, have the resources they need to fight the Mexican cartels who are flooding our communities with fentanyl and causing countless tragic deaths.
- Research and Development: Supporting research agencies including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and NASA to advance research capabilities and development of our country.
- Broadband: Make some newly created federal programs work to bring high-speed, high-quality Internet to all Kansas households, especially in rural or hard-to-reach communities that need broadband access.
