Freezing rain leads to numerous accidents on Kansas City’s freeways

As expected, the freezing drizzle is causing some problems on the roads on both the Kansas and Missouri sides. KANSAS: Lenexa police report they are working on more incidents on Interstate 435 and Kansas Highway 10. Police say roads are getting slippery and commuters should “use extreme caution” in the area. North of Lenexa, several crashes have been reported on Interstate 635 in Kansas City, Kan. Some were reported near Kaw Drive in southern Wyandotte County. One accident occurred near I-635 and State Ave. The MISSOURIA accident closed westbound Interstate 670 at Genessee Street in Kansas City. Eastbound Interstate 70 just west of the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City is also getting slippery. Rescuers shut down the area several times Friday night. The National Weather Service said the Grandview Triangle was a problem area Friday night.
